Testbed Components

Testbed Components

As well as REO control and data acquisitions systems, KLaS is also able to provide a range of standard test-bed components. These are all available as stand-alone items for integration into an existing test facility, or may be supplied as part of a turnkey installation.

For further details of any of the components shown here, please contact us using the details shown at the bottom of the page.

High Performance Throttle Actuator

The throttle actuator is an advanced unit that provides rapid response (<100mSec) control. The system is fully configurable for minimum and maximum position by simple adjustment at the test bed using the three illuminated push buttons provided at the unit head.Suitable for use on transient test cycles that follow ECE, FTP, EPA and Japanese regulations

Engine Coolant Controller

This module is a free standing unit that provides excellent control of the coolant for the engine. A high bleed point and viewing window allow the operator to easily bleed air from the coolant system to ensure optimum control. Using plate-heat-exchangers and available in a wide variety of sizes, the unit is capable of controlling the temperature of the coolant in the engine to +/- 1degC. It can be provided with control directly for the testbed control system, or via its own independent PID controller.

Engine Mounting Stands

These modules come as a pair and allow easy mounting of the engine to the testbed. Each unit is fully adjustable and easily configured to match the centreline height of the engine to that of the dynamometer.

Transducer Box

The transducer box utilised by REO systems is typically tailored to meet the requirements of the testbed application. However, in common with all REO Systems, the transducer box is compact and holds the advanced RS232/Ethernet I/O Devices making wiring back to the control room possible with the minimum of cabling

Shaft Guard

During running of the testbed it is a primary safety concern that all rotating parts are protected in case of failure. The Shaft Guard is a strong unit that provides heavy protection for the testbed in case of shaft breakage. A sliding, lockable, shield can be adjusted to suit the length of the shaft.

Component Stand

To allow components such as the throttle actuator to be firmly located at the testbed, the Component stand provides an adjustable location.

Boom Assembly

The boom assembly allows various testbed components to be mounted on a strong and sturdy pillar that is usually positioned near to the wall of the test-cell. The overhead boom is used to tidily route cables to the transducer box. The split swinging boom can be moved away from the engine and against the test-cell wall when not in use.

Fuel Flow Monitoring and Conditioning System

The CFM-200 is a free-standing unit that provides state-of-the-art continuous monitoring of fuel flow with very high accuracy. The system is based on a very high specification coriolis meter that allows measurement of both gaseous and liquid fuels. The fuel conditioning system ensures a constant fuel pressure and temperature while also de-aerating the return fuel flow.
